Support

The 27th Infantry Wolfhounds have been a part of Hawaii's community since 1921, when they were first stationed at Schofield Barracks. Over the years strong partnerships have grown to support the Wolfhound's 60-year legacy of compassionate giving to the Holy Family Home.

Special thanks go to Mr. Akio Aoyama, supporter and guardian angel for the children of the Holy Family Home and Wolfhounds since 1952, and the primary benefactor since 1992.

Appreciation also goes to our community partners:

Donations

When the Wolfhounds first began supporting the Holy Family Home orphanage in 1949, they provided food, clothing and shelter to the children who had been devastated by the war.  Today the children of Holy Family Home have their basic needs taken care of, yet the support and compassion that the Wolfhounds give are part of the foundation of the orphanage.

Each year monies raised by the Wolfhounds and Peace Bridge are used to fund a once-in-a-lifetime summer visit for children from the home. Four especially deserving children are selected by the orphanage and are flown to Hawaii where sponsoring Wolfhound families take them in as their own.

These children of the Holy Family Home are provided with the unique experience of being part of a real family and learn about the brave men and women who have supported the orphanage for so many years. The host families and Wolfhounds are also enriched by the exchange, creating the kind of cultural understanding that binds us together.

At Christmas the Wolfhounds and Peace Bridge buy gifts for each and every child at the Holy Family Home. Wolfhound soldiers accompany these gifts as "Father Christmas" and present them to the children in the holiday tradition of peace and brotherhood.

Peace Bridge hopes to further this legacy of cultural exchange and Japan/U.S. relations by doing even more for the children of Holy Family Home. We aspire to expand our mission to develop more opportunities for the children by creating university scholarships for orphans who "graduate" from the home. Additionally we hope to look into ways to facilitate the adoption process for Hawaii families who can offer these children a better future.
